I’ve said it before an I will say it again: there is something about the automobile that lends itself so well to high art.

Sometimes it’s the untouched, off the assembly-line, vehicle itself in a classic blue, red, yellow, black, silver, etc paint job (for instance: the SLR McLaren Roadster or theShelby Cobra) that is a work of art.  In other cases, it’s unique automotive architecture or a car’s everyday-object quality that attracts artists to use a car as a canvas (for example the BMW art cars, Britto’s Audi art car, or more kitschy jobs like this custom Star Wars van).

In a recent display of artistic genius inspired by an automobile, 22-year-old artist and student, Sara Watson matched the intellectual ingenuity and crafty creativity of 007’s support beam, Quartermaster in Die Another Day (on an aside, the mere mention of that film has planted Madonna’s Die Another Day in my head…great).  Unlike Q’s cloaking-enabled Aston Martin Vanquish, however, Watson’s subject vehicle was a beaten-up Skoda Fabia.  Watson carefully painted every crevice of the vehicle to blend with its surroundings.

The result is a super cool illusion that makes for the ultimate art in nature project.
